Mark Damon's "Peter" rip-off of "Dark Shadow"'s Gerard Stiles

Come to think of it, almost the entire movie is a riff on "Dark Shadows." To wit:

-Bound vampire who starts feeding after being freed after hundreds of years of imprisonment.

-Seaside town filled with superstitious -but ultimately ignorant-- townfolk.

-Lonely and horny young school-marm swept up in the supernatural pathos.

-Children menaced by the supernatural (maybe a stretch, I admit).

Interestingly, the "Van Helsing" character shifts back to being male in this movie, as opposed to the female Julia in DS. Also, the "VH" character in this movie just wants to kill the vamp rather than help or reform it.

Before you give me any stuff, just look up Mark Damon (this movie) and Jim Storm (Gerard from Dark Shadows). The producers were obviously trying to cash in on Dark Shadows.

Ahhhhhh.....no.

"Dark Shadows" was dead in the water in pop cultural terms by 1973. And the overlaps you mention are so generic they could be applied to dozens of supernatural and vampire movies.
