Perugia! I knew I'd heard of that town before...!

Well a couple weeks ago I finally managed to see this film for the first time after a loooonnnggg wait. The Blue Underground disc is superb, great image, and nice extras too.

One of the extras is about the Italian town they filmed the movie in...Perugia, titled "Murders In Perugia." Nice short doc about mentioning the reason they picked this town for the setting is because a lot of International students attend the University there, so it would make sense considering the number of different nationalities of the actresses in the cast.

The name of that town sounded very familiar to me, but I couldn't quite place it. I'm not Italian, and I've never visited Italy, so I didn't have a clue where I'd heard it before...

And then I started reading a book about the American student, Amanda Knox, and the murder of her roommate in Italy that happened in '07 in...that's right--Perugia! Too frickin' weird, for me anyway, that I'd just watched Torso for the first time, and the first book I begin reading afterwards is about that case. I wonder if the murder house is visible in any of the long shots of the town...?

This is very hard to read, isn't it?

I had started a similar thread few years ago too, it is possible the villa used was in a different Town but the university featured in the movie is the same one attended by Knox: the University for Foreigners in Perugia.
Also I found an article examining the connections between facts and fiction you might like: http://www.fringemedia.net/#!amanda-knox-and-the-70s-film-torso/c1692

At all accounts this is the house were the unfortunate real-life event occurred:
