The creepiest thing about the movie............

It just came to my mind, reading the summary, that this film takes place in Perugia, right in the centre of Italy in the region of Umbria.
I have seen it over a year ago and don't remember if there was explicit mention that confirms this as being the place, however from the numerous outdoor panoramic shots I can tell that seems the very plausible location.

Now, Perugia is a relatively small town and not a very usual choice for film location, especially for Giallo standards, as they were mostly shot around Rome, Milan or Turin in the Bava/Argento tradition.

Nothing strange up to this point but the thing is Perugia is also the place were that infamous Meredith Kercher murder happened in 2007, a story that, for all we know, might fit perfectly in your standard Giallo sub-plot with its murky juxtaposition of sleaze and brutality. Also, if I remember correctly, the movie itself features the town university and some of the victims are its students, just as the protagonists of that real-life tragedy.
What makes it slightly creepier is the fact that the exact translation of the Italian title is :"The bodies show traces of sexual violence".

From what we heard and read about the couple Amanda Knox/Raffaele Sollecito, this looks like the kind of movie they would enjoy watching tremendously, not that I believe for a second that watching films like these might turn you into a rapist or killer, mind you.

I just think it's quite fortunate this movie is old as it is, had it come out around the time those facts happened, we might have ended up with another serious case of "Moral Panic" media frenzy, unseen since the times of the 'video nasties' in the early 80s or even when Clockwork Orange came out a decade earlier.

interesting point. One wonders if this was lost on the italian public or whether the students involved aware of this. Still I live in north london I remember watching an ' italian' giallo with a climax at alexandra palace where I live.

No one thought of connecting the two really, Italy is just not the place for these sorts of moral panics (unless the film bad-mouths someone like the Pope or Berlusconi, that is, than hell might break loose somewhat) and these movies are usually not as widely known in their own country as one might think, exception made for those by Argento.

The giallo with the Alexandra Palace setting (not the climax, though, but an earlier and brilliant scene) is "Lizard in a Woman's Skin", by Lucio Fulci.
