Odd that she was attaching a silencer to a revolver pistol

In the scene where Coffy was preparing her gun - which is clearly a revolver pistol, not a semi-automatic type - to take to that "meeting" with Vitroni, we see her attaching a suppressor or silencer to the barrel of the gun. Well, I had always heard that silencers don't work on revolver pistols, because the gas from firing a bullet escapes in that gap between the cylinder and the barrel. The silencer on the end of the barrel will not suppress that noise. So why is Coffy attempting to attach a silencer to a revolver pistol?

Check out Lee Marvin in The Killers, he uses a revolver with silencer too.

I'm no handgun expert, but I had always heard that silencers simply don't work on revolvers, only on semiautomatic-type pistols.

There are suppressors that work on some types of revolvers even as far back as the 1960's but from my understanding there's only one of constant use (Nagant, I think) and I doubt they were readily available to everyone when this film was made.

So probably stock it up to "Movie magic".
