Obvious anti-war, anti-Vietnam sentiment.
This movies talks about Vietnam, the anti-war movement, soldiers killing civilians. A priest even burns himself alive the same way a Bhuddist monk did protesting the war in Vietnam.

shareWell yeah- Night of the Living Dead has a lot going on with civil rights (under the surface of course) but also had sentiments of Vietnam, which continued on through with the mostly realistically gory violence in 'Dawn' (Savini is a Vietnam vet). This film is creepy with its satire.

It sure does makes our military look like a bunch of bumbling bafoons.I didnt like it!But... it was made in "73"Has to be one of the uglist years in American history. The hideous clothes/fashion and the hairstyles or should I say lack of and the whole hippie movement.Take a bath will ya! FREAKS !!!But besides this I still like the movie.
I've got a job, a secretary, a mother, two ex-wives and several bartenders that depend upon me

I can't stand the 70s look especially the hair styles yuck!
shareOf course, but Vietnam seemed like a pretty easy target by 1973, and the self-immolation was all-too obvious.
