Is it true that this movie is banned in China?

A Chinese colleague told me.

reply

No, it is not, that Chinese dumb ass just don't know the difference between didn't import the movie and banned the movie. Some stupids just think every movie not shown in china is banned by gov.

It was banned in China in the 70's, during Cultural Revolution. By then, the Chinese government was hostile and wary to every other nations. They said the film was insulting the Chinese people and PLA. Of course, not many Chinese people knew that film exist, because China was a totalitarian county by then. In fact, it was banned in Hong Kong although we were ruled by UK in the 70s, but the British didn't want to provoke the communist.

Whats the difference when all the major importer are Party controlled or gov't subsidiaries? (It is still true even today.)

Dumbass like you must've enjoyed quite a while when IMDb itself was also banned in China, haven't you?

Yes, if 10-20 yrs ago, and during Mao's time, any movies made by Westerners will most likely be banned.

Unfortunately, banned movies are not a term that exist in China NOW.

They get to watch all movies they want, through pirated website of course.

I am watching this movie through a China website, wahahaha (at this very moment)
