Dental records *spoilers*

I was surprised at one loose thread in the plot of this otherwise incredible movie. Remember the scene where Charley did a B&E on the dentist's office and put his wife's dental records in his own folder, so that everyone would think the body found in the first explosion (Nadine's) was his? Obviously this didn't work, as both the mob and the law were soon busting down his trailer door looking for him.

At the end of the movie, when Charley blew up the car with his dead partner's body in it, attempting the same identity switch, why didn't he go back to the dentist's and put the young partner's dental records in his folder? It would've made a great punchline!

They even went to the trouble of setting it up early in the movie, when the young guy had a toothache, and they made a point of telling us he'd gone to the same dentist as Charley and Nadine. It's like they set the gag up and forgot to give us the payoff.

Charley Varrick put Nadine's dental records in his pocket along with his own. After that he put his partner's records in his (Charlie's file).Watch closely next time fox!

That's true - Varrick put Harmon's (Andy Robinson's) X-rays into his OWN X-ray envelope. What a goof that is! If Harmon were killed (which he was), his teeth would lead directly to the X-rays contained in the envelope labeled "Charley Varrick"!

But another goof is that Harmon's X-rays couldn't have existed in the dentist's files to begin with, since Harmon hadn't even gone to him yet. As Varrick and Harmon were driving away from the about-to-explode getaway car, Harmon complained about his bad toothache and said that he SHOULD HAVE seen the dentist that Charley and Nadine had seen!

So many goofs, so little space!

Not quite. In fact, just the opposite. He said he DID go. The visit just didn't do him any good. (Presumably the dentist took x-rays to see the problem, and told him to come back later to get the tooth fixed.)

> Damn. This tooth of mine is killing me.

< Thought you took care of that last week.

> Yeah, well I... I went to that dentist of yours.

< It was pretty good on me and Nadine.

> Real fine Charley.

What goof? That's exactly what he wants,
that both the cops and the mob think Charley Varrick is now dead.

He did switch dental X-Ray records with Harman at the dental office. He took and destroyed the X-Ray records of himself and his late wife.

The next time you watch a movie drunk, Foxfire, I suggest you re-watch it when you're sober so as not to make a complete fool of yourself by posting a comment on a "plot hole" that does not exist.
