Why isn't this more popular?

Seriously. I expected a hundred times more posts about this movie when I came here, but there were only like four threads. Awareness about this movie needs to be raised. It's a kick ass ride that clearly influenced many great modern filmmakers like Quentin Tarantino and the Coen Brothers. Someone needs to get the word out about how badass this movie is.

I wrote a 30th Anniversary article on this film for "Cult Movies" magazine back in 2003, plus I've written IMDb bios for cast members Tiffany Bolling and James Whitworth. Moreover, I just wrote and submitted an IMDb bio for director Guerdon Trueblood. In addition, this film is very well known and regarded by fans of down'n'dirty 70's drive-in exploitation fare.

Well that's me, I mean, I'm a fan of seveties exploitation. So are a lot of other people, the Thriller board is actually fairly active, and that's why I assumed this would be too. Come to find out, that last thread before this one to be posted on was in February. Keep working on getting the word about this movie out there, It should be regarded as aclassic by a lot more people.

And here's another 70's grindhouse fan who just saw it and wanted to chime in! Riveting from beginning to end, with a choking hopelessness pervading the film that you don't see nowadays. Hopefully, I'm not the only one who found it sexy...damn, Bolling and Sennet were really hot in this! They really don't make 'em like they used to, and it's a shame, cause these movies are more based on reality than the stuff released today.

No one knows of a grindhouse appreciate forum, or something like that, where people discuss all sorts of movies from that genre? I tried looking for one online, but couldn't find anything.

I've read your bios of Tiffany and Guerdon. They are suspiciously similar to the ones that I wrote for the DVD of THE CANDY SNATCHERS.

Just sayin'...

There isn't a lot of info for either Tiffany Bolling or Guerdon Trueblood, so I did use both of your bios as a key source of information. I tried not to copy your bios too much and I appreciate all the useful information contained in both of them. I write a lot of bios on lesser known actors, actresses and directors who specialized in horror and exploitation fare.

Yeah it's a real shame this movie doesn't get much attention. There aren't that many movies that can make mind-blowing endings on such a low budget like this film did.

I know exactly where you're coming from, that's why I created this forum a while ago: http://exploitedfilth.com/phpBB/index.php

I just registered...thanks, man.

DVDMANIACS.NET is the best Exploitation-related forum I've seen. Almost all of the users are seasoned fans and have seen like everything, even the really obscure stuff. And they don't limit discussion to the canonized stuff like CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST or DAWN OF THE DEAD (altho those are still loved, just a little over-discussed and obvious).

This movie never received nationwide distribution. It had a spotty record of drive-in bookings in smaller markets and therefore failed to ever show up on Variety's top fifty grossing films at any point during its run.

I love this movie. A terrifically grimy, seventies exploitation classic! Well worth checking out.
