Stupid Plot Premise

Despite some good moments -- really between Wayne and Brand and secondarily Wayne and the kids, the whole plot made the Duke look like a total disaster as a "peace officer". He arrests a bunch of men he strongly suspects are not guilty; leaves them to the mercy of a jury that finds them guilty; puts his sons, whom he knows are involved in the robbery in mortal danger to the point it's a fluke that they come out alive; gets his tracker friend killed and makes an empty promise that the dying man doesn't have to worry about his family "while I'm alive" -- all this for some action. The only consolation is that most action films since 1973 have been even more contrived.
