At what point in the movie does St Francis speak?

We started watching the movie but couldn't get past the fact that he never said a word.

Watch it again and you may be surprised at how moving it is when he does speak and, moreover, what it is he learns to say.

"Thank you, thank you--you're most kind. In fact you're every kind."

It's not like NOBODY is speaking. What's the big deal if he doesn't? I thought it was a beautiful touch.

At what point in the movie does St Francis speak?

It's been a while since you posted. I wonder if you got back to the film.

He eventually starts speaking after his dance on the rooftops with the sparrow (OMG!), after a lot of the flashbacks are out of the way.

I personally wasn't all that inspired by what he had to say; others may have been.
