deleted scenes?

I wonder if anyone could shed some light on the deleted scenes. I just happened on this movie recently but had read the French novel years ago which was I recall was a more brutal story than the movie is. The movie as I've seen it does seem somewhat incomplete but has some really lovely moments. I'm really curious what the director's cut contains. Anyone know?
