Extended version on DVD?

Are there 2 different versions of this on DVD?

I have seen the disc from the Legacy Collection, but a friend has a DVD of this movie where the main menu screen says Extended edition on it. I don't think the Legacy Collection does, but I don't have access to it anymore. I checked it out from my local library, where a patron has since "lost" the disc. I just know it was from the Legacy Collection as I checked out the entire Legacy Collection at once.

I'm guessing the Legacy Collection version is some kind of trimmed down version? If so, there was a 2nd DVD release of an Extended Version at some point?

Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks!

The "trimmed down" version is the actual theatrical release. A couple of scenes (both dealing with the Alpha-Omega bomb) were added to the original TV prints. The blu-ray has the complete version.

The original films were released on standand DVD twice. The Evolution collection in 2001 and the Legacy collection in 2006. The Evolution collection includes the theatrical release of Battle. The Legacy collection includes an extended edition that has an extra 10 minutes of footage. A list of the added scenes is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_for_the_planet_of_the_apes#Extended_cut

Yes, I knew remembered seeing the deleted scene with the bomb and the mutants at the end when I watched it on TV years ago. This explains the crying statue at the end. Did Caesar change the future or were they still doomed to repeat it?

This is what the screenwriter Paul Dehn said on the matter: http://www.potamediaarchive.com/images/dehn5.jpg
