A tamer, earlier and more artistic "Natural born killers"

Subject line says all

Maybe - but Badlands is my all-time favorite movie, and I remember not liking Natural Born Killers at all (one of my least favorites from Oliver Stone).

Just a guy in Texas who loves movies. 

Natural Born Killers has a better soundtrack. Badlands may be a slightly better film.

If by slightly you mean IMMENSELY, then yes.

NBK was just another average, overblown film with a couple decent performances. Badlands is Malick making Visual Poetry, complete with his Philosophical and Existential Themes but with a more traditional narrative. It's funny when I hear these comparisons. It's hard to even compare the Couples and their Relationships because they're played out so differently... All due to the Brilliance of Malick and the lack thereof with Stone.

reply

Meh, I like NBK better. Badlands was boring.

Tarantino is on record as being pretty much obsessed with BADLANDS. BADLANDS is a disturbing, haunting film that actually conjectures, theorizes and philosophizes about the nature of life and its futility. I met a man who said it is one of his favourite films. I instantly wanted to get to know him better because I knew he was worth knowing a lot more about (such as police involvement, witness protection plan, etc.). JK.

Badlands is a far superior film to Natural Born Killers, which was a classic example of how too much flashy style can easily overwhelm any substance the film might have had. Whereas the stark simplicity of Badlands adds immensely to its quietly haunting power.

I've been chasing grace/ But grace ain't easy to find

Badlands is a much better film than Natural Born Killers, for me. Great performance by Martin Sheen, and the rest of the cast.

When someone says Badlands is boring, I feel sad--the movies they make today are damaging people's brains.
