A check from the county?

Did she say a check from the county for their (r-word) child was supporting the family? Is that why the one sister didn't want Baby to talk or stand, perhaps?

I know a family that lives on the money from Social Security they get because one daughter is "autistic". Kid seems functional to me. Call me a hater, but I don't think they want their kid cured as long as the checks keep coming.

I didn't see this elsewhere on the forum, thought I'd throw it out there.

That's what she said alright, that's how they get by.

The mother also said that the one daughter (Alba) gave tennis lessons in the afternoon, and the other daughter (Germaine) did an occasional TV commercial. But in any case, I think that check from the county was their main source of cash flow. So in that respect the "big baby" was their golden goose, and they didn't want to let be taken away from them.
