One of those films

This is one of those films that is so bad it actually becomes good again. It was on BBC on early hours sat morning after Jet Li's The Enforcer, and I knew after five minutes (unintentional) viewing that although it will be rubbish I will end up watching every minute, and I did. The twist is alright, but not exactly The Usual Suspects guys was it?

It reminds me of a Czech film called Ortensak, if you liked this film I think youd like that as well. I think both films are worth a look for curiosity value alone. I agree with the review though that the performances were actually very good in the most part. A weird gem if you can catch it 5/10.

hello thencjs

I love "The Baby" and am curious about this Czech film, Ortensak. Where would I be able to find this film?
thanks

maybe you mean "Otesanek" which translates to "Little Otik". This is another film that depicts infant horrors.

reply

Little Otik is a great film-I highly recomend it!

WHat are you talking about, there are LOADS of films that suck so much that they become good again like any vann damme film.

The first time I saw 'The Baby' the twist caused my jaw to literally drop (if it wasn't connected to the rest of my face it would've hit the floor).

an unfinished swimming pool is never a good thing in any film (see Poltergiest)

This is one of those weird movies that are so bizarro that I like them. Makes you wonder about the person who thought up the ideas in the movie.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.

obviously, the writer's parents beat him long into adulthood...

for real!!!!??? i fell asleep with the tv on and woke up to a baby crying. next thing i know i was totally sucked into this bizarro campfest and, like a train wreck, i couldn't look away. had to hop on imdb to see if anyone [in the entire world] had ever watched it before. one of those movies that belongs in a time capsule lol

I wouldn't say it's so bad it actually becomes good. Steven Seagal movies or many 80's Schwarzenegger movies are so bad they actually become good in a sense. The Baby is by no means a bad movie, just that it's maybe a bit too weird for some. It has decent acting (a bit over the top, but that's standard for 70's movies) and some nice twists. I gave the movie a IMDb 5/10 and Netflix 3/5 - it was an OK movie but I found it slightly tedious at times.

I didn't find this movie bad at all. The plot was slightly weak, but I thought the movie was well acted (especially the scenes between the social worker lady and Mrs. Wadsworth - the tension there was very realistic!) and a credible amount of suspense and an overall creepy atmosphere.
