WTH did I stumble upon...

It's 1:25am and I see a grown man being fed baby food in a high chair. Lol! This is about the strangest thing I've seen in a while. Is he a special needs person? I guess I'll read the reviews bc I don't think that this is my cup of tea.

reply

hahaha Same thing just happened to me. I got through watching the Bad Seed (one of my Favorites) and this thing came on....Very Weird!

reply

There are a few movies with Bad Seed in the title. Are you referring to the one from 1985?

I'm not afraid of the dark.....I'm afraid of what's in the dark.

reply

The Bad Seed (1956) is one of the best films I have seen in my life. It set adoption back 25 years, when it came out. If you ever watch it, you will never forget it. Nature or Nuture, which rules out? That is the question this film poses....Hope you get a chance to check it out someday.

reply

Saw Bad Seed yesterday. Excellent movie. I notice the one from the 80s is a remake but I haven't seen that one yet.

reply

No offense to anyone, but I wouldn't even bother with the remake. Noone can play that little girl better. Hope you enjoy it. It still haunts me, from when I saw it at 14. I am in my 50's now. I love that film so much. Don't know why....except it makes one ponder raising a child to be a good person, IF one can. Frightening, even though I raised two. Sure glad they weren't like Rhoda! LOL.

Why? Rhoda Penmark wasn't adopted. if anything, it should have set natural conception back 25 years! Who would want to risk having a ghoul-child like Rhoda?

"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

reply

Yes, Rhoda WAS adopted. That was the point of the whole story: Nurture or Nature? Which will win out, when the original donor is a serial killer, like Rhoda's REAL mother was? The reason it set back adoption was the fear of ending up with a child like Rhoda, whose killer-instincts are in her blood...

reply

No, Rhoda was absolutely not adopted. Nothing indicates this, in the film nor the novel.
CHRISTINE (the mother) was adopted. She was adopted by her father, Richard Bravo. Christine's mom was insane & had murdered the whole family but Christine hid & survived.

"Penfold, shush."

reply

You are absolutely correct! My mistake! Yes, the mom was adopted. So the film kind of insinuated that maybe the murderous Gene skipped a generation and surfaced in Rhoda.

reply

The Bad Seed is excellent. It's only serious weakness is the tacked on "God fixes it" ("He" could have saved everyone a lot of trouble by acting more promptly) ending when Rhoda is struck by lightning after all else has failed. Reminds me of how the ending of Tea and Sympathy was ruined even more badly in order to please the moral preferences of the production code.

OMG..I was wondering the same thing. I really have my finger on the channel changer but I can't stop watching...what is wrong with this man?!?!?

Oh my..the mom is beating the baby sitter...geeze...

My goodness! A cattle prod!

ok, someone's parents were still beating them long beyond puberty to write and make this movie. love it when the mom, (who looks like Suzanne Sugarbaker from Designing Women and speaks with a voice like Brenda Vacaro advertising playtex tampoons), catches the babysitter trying to breast-feed: "Nothing happened? With your damn tit in his mouth, and you call that nothing? Lying bitch!" i can't stop laughing at this twisted trainwreck!!!

reply

Exactlty what I thought and from the synopsis this film gets really very wierd. I might get trapped into seeing "what happens next". If I had a dollar for everytime that happens LOL

And the sisters are having sex with him???? OK this is CREEPY!

I don't know whether to cry because of the treatment of the retarded, or scream because this movie is just so messed up!!!!

It was Rhoda's medal.

reply

This has got to be the strangest movie I've ever seen in my life but its real fascinating and addicting. I want to change the channel but I really am addicted to it so much that I had to just get on IMDB to see what others were thinking.

OMG, that's exactly what I'm doing here! When I pulled up the schedule and saw this on TCM tonight, after reading the synopsis I thought, I just have to give this movie a try! As soon as she was invited to Baby's birthday party, I came over to IMDb to see what the heck I was watching. Who knew I find so many others doing the same thing! :D

reply

Thanks...! Me too. I was watching The Bad Seed, and then...this..

I'm with everyone here..WTH will happen next...?!?! Goodness knows I wanna turn...but Ruth Roman is a trip!

It was Rhoda's medal.

reply

I've been lying here watching TCM as well, and just finished watching "The Bad Seed" which I thought was really good and sufficiently creepy! I gasped out loud at the end! "The Baby" is really strange! Still, it's one of those movies I can't turn off. I hope the ending doesn't end up being a disappointment!

reply

Happy Birthday...what is he now, 34?

It was Rhoda's medal.

What a movie to follow "the Bad Seed"...,someone at TCM is a twisted programmer. I do not know if I can sit through another hour, but I am caught up in "what is the twist ending?".

reply

Haha, I just finished watching The Bad Seed (really amazing movie), and then The Baby came on. I've heard of it before, and it's definitely living up to its reputation. I can't wait to see where this goes...

Btw, TCM Underground is probably my favorite thing in the world. I've seen so many awesome cult movies because of it.

Damn that social worker is really smart. What a twist this was.

This is a good movie, strange but good. Very misunderstood!

Wow this a great lineup of movies whoever programs TCM is very twisted. LOL! Now we got Children of the Damned after this one. It must be scary kids night or something.

TCM Underground literally is the best thing on TV, they show a lot of these lost trasures and classics.

reply

OK. WTH DID I JUST WATCH??????

Bow before royalty, you insolent FRAUD!!!

reply

My, oh, my... "Children of the Damned" will surely be a letdown after this.

reply

I was auto-tuning The Bad Seed (I have to watch it every time it's on :)) and saw The Baby. TCM Underground will surely become one of my favorites.

reply

Completely agree. TCM Underground is one of the best things on TV today. I love the short instructional films. I'm old enough to remember when some of them were taken very seriously.

reply

As soon as I saw it I couldn't take my eyes off of this movie or be mortified by what I'm or be mortified by what I'm seeing. it's the 1970s go figure. it turns it turns out the her is really th is really the villain. are the epitome o are the epitome of bitches and tha and that social worker seems nice but it seems like something strange going on with the social worker too does anyone feel that way?

reply

Dead sister on the stairs this is real *beep* creepy!! I was wondering when this is going to turn into a horror or a sci film like the film says it's listed under
