Somewhat disappointed

Movie was pretty bland by today's standards. Not really spooky, though slightly atmospheric, which kept me interested and hoping it would get more demonic, but instead it careened its way to a fuzzy and soft ending. The actors were stiff as cardboard, and the allegedly "shocking" nudity was laughable by today's standards. The dubbed voiceovers were not too good. And last but not least, the title of this movie, which I had hoped would have some tangible connection to the "Baba Yaga" of Russian folklore, instead had NOTHING in common with the Russian witch that kids in Russia and Eastern European countries learned about when they were growing up. (The Baba Yaga of Russian folklore lived deep in the forest in a hut which stood on chicken legs, which was able to rotate around... Baba Yaga would travel through the forest on her mortar and pestle, squatting so that her knees were pressed right up to her bony nose, etc....).

This movie is more of a curiosity, a footnote in the Giallo genre, that bears watching only if you want to fill your "I've seen it" card.

I liked it, there were cool editing techniques and enough experimentation with camera angles and visuals that made it passable. The ending was better than I expected. I love these Sassy Euro films. I gave it an 8 out of 10.

I think between your two opinions we get the actual value of the film. I enjoyed the direction for my part and the atmosphere (dark romantic piano music, kind of like the piece Ash plays in Evil Dead II).
