Beautiful film

This is the best Franco film I've seen so far, up there with The Erotic Rites Of Frankenstein. I think Lina Romay is amazing in it - absolutely mesmerising on screen. The film as a really grand, cinematic aesthetic that definitely deserves to be seen in good quality on the big screen. The soundtrack is fantastic and the film has a nice blend of melancholy and erotica.

I came here to post the same thing. Jess Franco's "Loves of Irina/Female Vampire" is maybe, the most atmospheric film I have ever seen. Hypnotic and dreamlike, and Lina Romay radiates a strong feeling of sadness and isolation without saying a word, but rather with just her eyes. I saw it first, years ago, on an old VHS tape, edited and dubbed with a cropped picture. I wasn't too impressed then. But seeing a good, widescreen copy on a large screen; wow, it's stunning. I recommend Franco's "Eugenie Sex Happening" with Soledad Miranda. I think it's Franco's best film..

"IMdB; where 14 year olds can act like jaded 40 year old critics...'

Agreed. Romay's mesmerizing presence really holds the picture together while the alternately dreamy, erotic, and melancholy atmosphere works its hypnotic magic on the viewer. Great lush and elegant score by Daniel White, too.

Out of what I have seen, I think this is one of Franco's weaker films.
