X files episode

Watching this I was reminded of the X-Files episode "Tithonus," where Geoffrey Lewis plays a photographer who tracked and photographed people who were about to die, trying to capture the spirit of death on film. He was immortal, since Death apparently took someone else's life instead of his. It was written by Vince Gilligan, and it'd be interesting to know if he'd ever seen the Asphyx.
