I remember watching and rematching this. It was fascinating. My local community college even had a for-credit tele-course, I think the first of its kind.

Then there was James Burke's Connections, which was also excellent.

Also, locally we had this series called Fast Forward which talked about all the technology and just at the start of all this tech madness. Too bad we didn't turn it around and save ourselves the misery of political social networking and Orange Big Brother.
