catherine and the hand

hi there i was wondering if anyone could tell me how she got pregnant
did she have the woodsmans child

reply

all i want to know is why when she screams you can clearly see fillings in her back teeth!? didn't know dentists were that good back in the 18th century!!

reply

she was raped by Silas's ghost from what i believe. if u seen this on AMC then probably didn't understand what happened since they had to edit the scene (when the hand was covering her mouth). this was the curse that Silas had on the Fengriffen family since his girl Sarah was raped, he swore he would violate the next virgin to become a bride to a Fengriffen, like Sarah.

IMO Silas was stupid. When Henry Fenriffen went to Silas's cabin with all the other men and Fengriffen asked if Silas had "taken her yet" Silas should have said, "Yes Sir, three times already, and she is not virgin anymore." Maybe Fengriffen would have turned his ass around since he was looking for a VIRGIN...that's what i been thinkin about since i seen this film.

reply

You are right Silas should have been a little Sly on the uptake. Who knows maybe he was taught to be honest no matter what.

reply

...and there goes the whole plot right out the window.

reply

my b, but why would you click on these boards and read them when you haven't seen the movie first?

Back in the day the master (Rich land owner) could bang any of his female servants or any woman of a male servant. Some kind of old feudal rights thing that eventually died out it more modern times.
I don't know about a general right to have at the help. But nobility did enjoy a right of prima nocturne - "first night" - i.e., the right to be first on the wedding night. And if I remember correctly, it came up in Braveheart.

Oh, how I wish I could believe or understand that.

I know this is years later, but....

Prima Nocte is a myth, actually. And the "history" in Braveheart is 90% nonsense.

people absolutely kill me when they come on these imdb boards of shows or movies they haven't seen yet and then they whine when other people are on said boards discussing what happened in these movies or shows....lmao

reply

What b meant was if Silas had said Sarah wasn't a virgin anymore, there would be no plot to the movie.

reply

no i highly doubt it...i'm pretty sure he was crying because i revealed the plot to a movie that was released in 1973...lol

reply

4 years later... no, he meant that if that happened there would be no movie.

reply

1 year later... "There would be no movie" is an argument against plot flaws used by retards.

reply

Sure, I'm just saying what the person meant. I don't care.
