not on dvd anymore?

I always loved this comedy and always meant to buy the dvds but they seem to have disappeared, the 1960s ones are available but I don't like these.

Anybody know why I can't buy this series? is it down to the actors ?

reply

They are on eBay, around £5 per series

Thanks for the reply,I actually found the dvds hiding in a shop.
I say hiding because the first 2 series of "WHATEVER.."are sold in a box with a still from the 1960s series "THE LIKELY LADS" along with 3 episodes of the original series.

The box set is called THE LIKELY LADS,I think all this is crazy,I was a teenager in 1973,and have always enjoyed WHATEVER but did not like the original series.

I think the remake was actually more popular than the original but I might be wrong.

Glad you've found them...I must admit a prefer the 2 later series too, the no hiding place episode is probably my favourite ever sitcom episode

I'm the same - the 60s one doesn't have the same warmth as Whatever...

The North east seems a bleaker place in the earlier episodes, and going for a pint and trying to pick up "birds" a depressing experience. The advent of colour and, to be honest, better writing in the Seventies made Whatever an all time classic. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who saw myself and my best friend as Bob and Terry (although they were a good deal older than us) and related to their friendship, their struggles with the opposite sex and even the way their paths diverged, Bob the social climber, Terry the embittered layabout.

Awight we're The Daamned we're a punk baand and this is called Carn't Be Appy T'day!
