Christmas Special

I have just watched all 27 episodes over the past 4 days and it has brought back many memories for me. I was only 8 when the series ended but know it was one of my mum's favourite shows and, at the time, managed to stay awake to watch the show with her.

Christmas specials rarely have the same quality as regular series episodes especially with comedies that have more jokes to put in (which is why many of the 70s films of comedy shows failed to live up to expectations but this spin off film from this was one of the better ones),

This was one of the best Christmas specials which I have seen but lacked the belly laughs of the previous 26 episodes.

It is a shame that the Christmas special was their last tv outing and, I am sure that if it had been known at the time, then more regular characters would have featured. If it had been known that this was the final episode these days then every actor from the two series would have been brought in for a cameo role and payday (unfortunately the show doesn't get shown on terrestrial tv so no-one gets a payday)

The two main actors are still alive. If only they could put aside their well-documented differences then surely another Christmas special could be successfully made if not a series.

James Bolam has had a successful tv career since but the same can't be said for Rodney Bewes. Such a shame that these much-loved actors will never be seen together again. (even the mighty Ant And Dec's tribute was poor by their standards)

The Christmas special is my favourite episode. I don't think another special would work, the show is of its time, it wouldn't have the same charm, it's best left alone.

You're a creature of the night, Michael

The "mighty Ant and Dec". Is this sarcasm? I hope so.
