What does 'Some Mothers...' mean?

Well?

The title come from an old English saying which pretty much sums up the character of Frank Spencer.

According to my mum when I asked her the same question her reply was

"that some mothers do have terrible children".

I wonder if she was speaking from personal experience :) ......

reply

So no one really knows the answer? I was thinking it was something naughty.

reply

Of course. The person before you answered it. Her mum was right. It's a self explanatory title. There are some mothers out there that do have klutz's as children.

reply

The full expression is "some mothers do 'ave 'em and they've gotta be kept". My grandma used to say it - when she'd hear a story of someone doing something silly. It's said with a tone of endearment - basically no matter what Frank Spencer does, you love him regardless.

reply

........or said with sympathy - some mothers get stuck with children like Frank, you can't choose what your children will be like

reply

Thing is, from the way the story goes, it implies that Frank's mother was a klutz too. Kind of takes away from the title for me.

reply

Even idiots have mothers.
