I Remember FOUR Elderly Women, Not Two

I thought for sure it was the pilot, but apparently not. I've ordered the DVD set, so I will watch all of them.

But I distinctly remember four elderly women in the apartment setting, and it was Helen Hayes and Mildred Natwick among them.

Natwick kept fainting and someone was tripping over her.

Another woman had a hat pin she kept threatening the fellow holding them with.

It seems like Lou Antonio could have been the one detaining them, but I could be wrong, but I distinctly remember there were four of them and I was disappointed when I saw another episode and there were only two. Quite a letdown for a 7-yr-old then. Haha!

As I also remember they were each in a distinctive color, which always got my child's attention; one was in green, one yellow, one blue and one red, like the Chipmunks or Easter eggs.

YOu are thinking of 1971's DO NOT FOLD SPINDLE OR MUTILATE http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067001/combined in which the other two old ladies are legendary movie stars Myrna Loy and Sylvia Sidney. A lot of people think that TV movie "inspired" TSS but I think it's probably just a case of both simply being about old ladies in a mystery show; the producers, writers, directors, and even networks for both programs were different. I wouldn't be surprised though if Helen and Mildred were cast together for TSS after the TSS producers saw their chemistry in that tv film.

When I saw Paulette Goddard in the pilot movie, I thought, well, she must have been one of them, then all I saw was Jill Clayburgh, so I deduced, I was six or seven, she must have seemed old to me. Then Goddard died very early into the movie.

I knew I saw it before I saw the regular show, the Snoop Sisters. Even tho I had no idea who any of them were, not at 5 years of age, I got the distinct impression they knew how to work off one another, which being in show biz that long, they each did.

I looked over the cast listings for the remaining episodes and there were no two elderly actresses appearing in them. I knew I didn't imagine it.

Myrna Loy, that explains that. Always been a fan of hers as long as I could remember, but thought it began in my 20s. Now I see it went back even further.

Thank you, and I'm glad this isn't on the Need To Know board, so I don't have to worry about putting SOLVED on the title.

I can just regard it as a normal regular question-and-answer conversation.
