The Poor Waitress Who Got Murdered

That's one episode from this show I never ever forgot. I saw it when I was a kid and was totally disturbed by it. That large family living in their cars stop by that diner late at night and abduct the waitress who was working there. They drive out to a secluded road and the waitress is screaming for help as they're dragging her out of the car.

One thing I could never understand is, was she working alone that night at the diner? Was she working alone and waitressing and cooking at the same time? The criminals shut the lights off in the diner after they take her away.

Having a waitress on totally alone in a diner with no cook? I could never figure that part out.

The more I study it, the greater the puzzle becomes.

That is an episode called "Odyssey of Death" in 2 parts, from Season 3. It's an excellent episode and I agree it's very disturbing.

Sadly it's based on reality- see my post above.

A similar and as disturbing story was on Hawaii Five O about a family that were serial killers called One Big Happy Family season 6 episode 4.

The one the son-in-law wanted to get after that was a brown (or red) haired Loni Anderson. I too was bothered by the fact that the other girl was working alone like that.

On a side note- Where do they get all those hillbillies on PS? Do they even have those in LA, or are they all supposed to be passing through like these ones?

The real case was a family from Texas who roamed from state to state robbing and murdering young women. Google the McCrary Family. They murdered a young woman here in Portland, finally getting caught in southern Cal. They focused on donut shops and convenience stores with women working alone at night.

Thanks Virnman!

I had no idea it was anything but a written-for-TV story. Do you know if there are many PS episodes like that (based on truth) or was this an exception?
