Question about the premise

I've seen the first series, but not any more. As anyone who's seen the remake can guess, they admit to Mrs. Roper that they lied about Robin being gay.

After Chrissy's mother arrives however, she doesn't mention being told he's gay (in opposition to the American remake). Then in episode four, every time the Ropers see Robin, he's bringing a different lady up to his flat (without them seeing the other ladies leave, if they indeed did; it's been a while), and they both have pretty much the same reaction.

So, did they ever use the lie-about-being-gay stuff again?

reply

NO, they only kept up that lie for about two episodes, until Mildred meets Robin in the local pub and after becoming all salacious says something like: 'Oh by the way, you're not are you?'

I think that by the time that Chrissy's mother comes to stay, no one thinks tah tRobin is gay anymore.

reply

Not quite correct. Mildred finds out in the 2nd episode but George doesn't know for quite some time. Chrissie's Mother also stays in the 2nd episode, but only talks to George, so I assume she also thinks that Robin is gay at that point.

reply

Yeah, if I remember right everything Laurence said was right.
