Why no DVD?

Why isn't this film available on DVD? Its absence from our shops is yet another indictment on the shallowness of popular culture.

It is now available on iTunes....

Very cool, been waiting for this one for a while now.

You can now order it direct from Legend Films, or find it out at some Target stores already.

I purchased it yesterday. The film is presented in anamorphic widescreen, but sadly has no extra features.

How do you know which TARGET store?

Just finished watching the new DVD of ZPG released by Legend Films. It's pretty good, an anamorphic transfer for those of us still suffering through crappy pan-n-scan VHS versions, though there is plenty of print damage (it seems Legend did not bother touching it up at all), especially during the "special" effects scenes there are lots of film scratches. You get your typical 1970s film grain and soft colors overall. Got it direct from the Legend Films site. They sent it immediately to me. Wow, and speaking of special effects, I had forgotten exactly how poor those outside environmental effects were--in one instance you can see the fishing line holding up the little flying orb that flies around broadcasting announcements. Whew! But what a great flick. It is oppressive, tense, smartly acted (a little whiney at times, but), with great style, AND A REALLY GREAT 70S MUZAK SOUNDTRACK (and I mean that sincerely, the main theme is wonderful and sooo perfect, they do not make them like this anymore.) Alas, there are NO extras on the disc at all, nada. You got "Play Film" and "Chapter Selections" and that's it. The DVD cover is taken directly from the most recent VHS cover release of the flick, so nothing special there either. But it is great to finally have this on disc and in an anamoprhic transfer. NO COMPLAINTS HERE! I can cross yet another one off my list.

Oh yes, one more thing: BABY!!! BAYYBEEE!!! BAYBEEEEE!!! BAYYYBEEEEEE!!!!!

Saw this for the first time today and found it hugely enjoyable. And don't those artificial kids look strangely like the ancestors of Chucky?

I just got the disc this week from deepdiscount.com and I thought the same thing as you: another one I can cross of my list! I did cross it off actually...

Some extra features would have been nice, a commentary or a documentary. It would have been nice to know more about this production. Oh well, at least we finally have it on DVD and for that I am very grateful.

I bought it on VHS for $1 (tax included!) earlier this week. I really enjoyed it! It has that trademark early 70's moodiness and creepiness to it. Decent story, too. :)
