Maybe the greatest script ever

Just so well written. I feel sorry for anybody that does not love it.

So clever - unbelievably witty and memorable.

I just saw this movie and laughed all the way through! It couldn't have come at a better time because I was just thinking the other day how it had been a long time since I had seen any really funny movies that just make you laugh. It's definitely a new favorite and I loved Barbara Streisand.

I saw this in 1972 in a packed afternoon theater in Miami Beach...and the laughter NEVER stopped...it wasn't just slapstick...it was the BRILLIANT script! People laughed so hard they were pounding on the seats in front of them, jumping out of their seats with hysterical laughter and no one complained. Pandemonium extraordinaire! An unforgettable experience of my life!

Thank you for sharing, Enrique-8.
I just love to read stuff like this!

Even though this movie was released two years before I was born, I have such fond memories of seeing it! I first saw it when I was probably not older than 6 or 7, and it was only the slapstick that I really got - and that overwhealming chase sequence - but the movie kind of stuck with me. Now, while I still think some of the slapstick is some of the best ever put on film, it is the razor sharp and super fast dialogue that gets me, every time! This really is, without exaggerating, one of those movies I could watch over and over again and never get tired of.

-If made by George Lucas, this would be re-released 3 times - and by now be mostly cgi.

Thank you, ralph_2ndedition!

I am quite glad new generations have appreciated this flick! One wonders sometimes if all is lost after time passes on. I just showed it to my nephew who is 27 and he thought it was terrific! :) And he "got" most of the jokes, too. I did have to explain who Barbra, Ryan and Madeline were, but once we got past that, it was clear sailing.

I got introduced to 'What's Up, Doc?' through a silly saturday evening entertainment show we had here in Sweden (my home country) back in the very early 80's. The show lasted a couple of hours every saturday night, and spread throughout that time they occasionally showed clips from movies, or stage sketches, or other funny things/clips from movies. One of the scenes they showed was that with the guys on the ground carrying the huge sheet of glass and the guy on the ladder trying to survive the cars/bike racing beneath him.
I was 6 years old, and that - to me - was hilarious!
My aunt then decided that I obviously needed to see the whole thing, so she managed to get ahold of it...and the rest is history. :)

Ryan O'Neill I already knew from 'Love Story' and Barbara Streisand was...well, you know Barabara Streisand. But for me, Madeline will always, for ever and ever, be Eunice Burns. :D
