'Bringing Up Baby'

For virtually the same plot in the 30s, watch 'Bringing Up Baby.' The similarity was intentional.

Although some of it is the same - reluctant intellectual with stuffy fiancee being pursued by scatty heroine etc - much of it is quite different. No leopard for instance, and all the business with the identical bags. I think it was much better that way than a straight remake, which would have been tedious.

"Influenced by", yes, but definitely not a remake. And hopefully they leave these two classics alone.

I could not get through "Bringing Up Baby," yet I love this.

That would be like saying Raging Bull is a remake of Rocky. They are both dramas about boxing, they are both down and out fighters, their life is a mess, they both have a best friend helping them, and they are both looking for redemption and identity in the ring.

Buck Henry, et al, did a way better job of writing a screwball comedy than Bringing Up Baby.
