Aspect Ratio?

Does anyone know what the original aspect ratio of this was? IMDB says 1.85:1 and certain DVD releases say 1.78:1. Also, IMDB says it was shot spherical, so I was wondering if maybe the R1 Goodtimes DVD is actually an open-matte version instead of P&S? Does anybody know?

The DVD version I just watched is 1.73 to 1. There didn't appear to be any pan and scan or severe cropping. My guess is a mistake on the IMBd site.
