a question please

I just watched a bootlegged dvd, and it's only an hour and a few minutes long? were some scenes cut out?
I noticed that when Frieda first goes to the castle, then Maria says that Unlce Gustav beat her and she had to pretend to be Frieda to cover for frieda. Did they show this and it was left off my copy, or does Maria just tell her about it and we never see??
