I loved the director's previous film, Black Mama White Mama. And Pam Grier is always a plus, so I am really curious. Anyone seen this? (other than those who have already voiced their disgust)

Saw it a long time ago. Pam Grier is barely in it, she plays a panther woman that never talks.

I gave it a 2. Not a fun movie at all. The bad things I remember are the pink blood and painful sound effects. Worse than nails on a chalkboard.

Keep your expectations low (Don't expect "Citizen Kane") and you'll do fine. Great location photography, groovy music, John Ashley (alway good), Jan Merlin is a great villain, and the monsters are varied and fun. It is what it is... Good cheap and sleazy fun.

Funny you mentioned the 'great location photography'...I agree with that 100 percent! Of course, the DVD I have is made of made up of various sources, some scenes look great (for such a low budget-er), while others are washed out.

If people want to laugh, they should go watch something that was meant to be a comedy. I'm tired of seeing reviewer say they laugh at "B movies". If you can't take it as horror, take it as fantasy. Maybe something like The Neverending Story would be better for you and you should just avoid sci-fi and horror at all costs. How do you know that if someone could make a real bat-man that it wouldn't look exactly like that? Thy flying scenes were great. I thought they would look like he was guided along by cheaply wire and shaking around, but the flying looked good. How do you know that other real animal-people wouldn't look exactly like those others? You don't.

Do you think you're cool or something by the way you review movies? It's escapism and everything shouldn't have to seem %100 real to be good. You get enough reality from real life, where there are no such widely-known things as half people - half animals and everyone's everyday speech sounds real, things look %100 real, etc. So no, you aren't being cool at all.

The acting was as good as anyone can expect it to be. Nothing too obviously bad from anyone. The mad doctor's daughter was hot and her character was handled very well. And yes, Pam Grier was good. I wouldn't say she was hardly in it but she wasn't in it quite as much as the doctor's daughter. So what? Seemed to have her own thing going on the movie. From her first scene, her character seemed like she probably couldn't be trusted, then once she tasted blood in the jungle, she was completely out of control and had her own agenda of murder. She handled it all very well.

That reviewer above that mentioned pink blood- the post sounds like he/she was thinking about a different movie altogether. Do seek this one out (it's on youtube in one whole video), unless you are a super-prude

Hey; don't get so worked up over other people's opinions. But I agree; for what this movie was, it's wasn't bad. I just wish they could find a pristine print (for a DVD re-release).
