Kate Hepburn and George Cukor collaborated on this film but the great Kate was fired by MGM and replaced by Maggie Smith.

I'm lookin at her autobio right now and she says she was fired, in her words "rightfully so" because she was holding up production. She didnt think the script was right yet.
