Any hope on this for DVD?

Hi,

I may be the only person in the universe, but I would love to see this on DVD sometime, but then other movies made it to DVD that I never thought in a million years would make it. Also, considering director George Bloomfield wasn't allowed to release his director's cut, it would be great to release this on DVD with his cuts. A commentary with Bloomfield, Alda, Lamberts, and Danner would be nice as well.

I second the motion. I've been wondering about these crazy people for years, and I would love to see what light the director's cut would throw on their psychology. Very odd film.

Like the second poster, I don't know about a DVD (it is on VHS), but I can tell you you're not the only one in the universe. One thing an "audio commentary" could do in Alan Alda's case is this - he evidently had polio as a kid (something I've heard interviewers mention, but WITHOUT mentioning this movie), so he must have drawn on that in a big way when it came to playing that character. That alone would be a reason to hear comments on the movie.

I don't think you are the only person that hopes it is on DVD at all. I remember seeing this movie late one night on TV in the late 1970s as an older child, and after this first veiwing I did not like it at all, and it was on my ten least favorite movies of all time list. This continued into the mid 1980s, but then I rented it out and saw it some on our VCR, and I realized I was wrong, and I liked it pretty good. So yes, I'd like to see it on DVD soon if could, and as you said would be very good. When and after I first saw it I did know the villian was a disturbed Vietnam veteran, and was played by Alan Alda (who I knew well from MASH then). I also remember the wife was a young, pretty blonde, though did not realize until just earlier this decade she was Blythe Danner, and was Gwenyth Paltrow's mother. She does appear partially nude in it, one morning while she wakes up in bed and he happens to come in just by chance, and she asks him to please give her a few seconds and leave. He did not seem to understand, though that was probably part of his emotional illness, but it is alot like Gwenyth's topless scene in Shakespeare in Love. Anyway, i hope it does come out on DVD soon, I'll watch it again then.

I like the movie a lot and would love to see the longer version on DVD. I've always searched to see if there was the longer version on tape but it doesn't seem
to exist. I think this is a very underrated movie.

After snooping around online I found a VHSrip of it, but it id the 88 minute version. The IMDB says it's 104 mins, but the pace was still slow and actually I didn't think I needed any more secenes - it was kinda dull, but it's perfect for it's time - lazy pace, okay character development, and a bittersweet ending.

Feh.
