Planned movie

Steven Spielberg will make a Tintin movie, and not only one but three.
One of them will be based of Seven Crystal Balls and Prisoners of the Sun.

Spielberg is set to be producing it. Not sure if he wants to direct as well.
He has said that he will make it more American, but keep some of the original Belgian style. If there will be another director, I suggest Ron Howard and John Landis. But the'll probably go with a European one. Then I think one of the Bond directors must do it: Guy Hamilton, Lewis Gilbert or John Glen.

What actors do we want in the lead? This is a very important question, because we want to be satisfied with the one they pick. I have some candidates here:

Dave Moffatt (Canada)
Matthew Lawrence (USA)
Billy Boyd (Scotland)
Michael Angarano (USA)
Johan Widerberg (Sweden)
Liam Aiken (USA)
Aaron Carter (USA)

It's a tie between Aaron and Angarano here. Both of them will be close to perfect as Tintin. And now Aaron has started doing films, so his chances to get the role are pretty good. But Angarano is already a skilled actor, so that affects how I vote. I go for Angarano!!!
Maybe I'm all wrong? Well, don't hesitate to tell me!

I want Brad Whitford ("The West Wing") as Tintin and Torsten Flinck (Sweden) as Captain Haddock. The latter man has all the unpredictability and masculine charisma of that sea-bear.

Hello!

I don't think Aaron Carter should be Tintin... Tintin is more 'ordinary' looking - and the other guy Angarano seems more suitable to me.

Sorry if I'm being blindingly obvious here, and ignore my short essay if so(!) But I think they should make sure that Tintin is actually portayed as a Belgian citizen, as that is an integral part of the set-up.

- My explanation is: I always felt one of the charms of the set-up was that Tintin is a young reporter from a country which is largely neutral in its feeling towards the various countries he ventures.

- This is important to his 'neutral envoy' feel of the books, and part of Tintin's power as an individual hero, part of Herge's fantasy - e.g. how Tintin can actually meet and liaise with important figures of culture and state (through being a famous reporter) and eventually has some bearing on their decisions and destiny!! They see him as important, and if not, they learn to in the course of the story. Total fantasy, but great stories.

Returning to the origin of this board - this film, Lake of Sharks, I recently watched it, and found it very good.
I had to imagine I hadn't seen the 1990s cartoon series in which almost all the original books were animated, and found the plot of this story imaginative and absorbing, and the animation was really pleasing - they are Tintin's first steps from comic strip to moving images.

The lead singer from the Communards should play Tintin.

"Jai Guru Deva, Om"
