I think it's great fun. Love the two-headed gorilla eating the bananas! LOL.

That was one of the places in the film where I burst out laughing.
Also, Ray Milland's head on the table at the end, begging for help. I felt kind of sorry for the poor disembodied disagreeable racist geezer. But I laughed anyway.

Too much bike and car chase, and 70s racial humor. Needs to be played straight as a horror movie.
shareI love this movie! It is SO MUCH CRAZY AWESOME for most of the running time. The two-headed gorilla, Oscar-winner Ray Milland taking it so seriously, Rosie Grier, that amazing operation scene.
Everything up to the scene where the thing with two heads steals the dude's car. The chase goes on too long and some of the material with the police chasing the dirt bike and all the crashes and the so-called gags with the police, it's just too much.
And then they meet up with Rosie's girlfriend and it gets hilarious again.
I had trouble rating it. I'm tempted to give it a "10" because I love a "perfect" cult film like "King Kong vs. Godzilla" or "Bowery at Midnight." But "The Thing with Two Heads" just has too much padding in the chase scene. When it's good, it's sublime.
I really enjoyed most of it on Halloween night. My nephew and one of his friends were trading candy after trick-or-treating while I was watching it and they made a lot of disparaging remarks. I couldn't argue with them. But this movie just doesn't care about bourgeois notions of good and bad.
I gave it an "8."
