Didn't realize that Christopher was deceased.....

He had always reminded me of Ryan O'Neal for some reason; he did great as the kidnapper on Benji too.....passed away too young! :(

I'd forgotten he had died. I liked him in Peyton Place and always thought he and Ryan O'Neal were cast perfectly because they looked like they could be brothers.

I totally agree - as a matter of fact, growing up I couldn't tell who was who (of course I was younger then). I never did watch Peyton Place....I will when there is a rerun on sometime.....just died too young as so many did in the 60s and 70s! I was kind of hoping that the 80s would have been a bit better...but I guess not :(

Hello, Bee:

I didn't realize Christopher Connelly died so young either. It's been years since I thought of him, so I thought he'd be gone by now, but I didn't realize he was only 47. In addition to this and "Benji," he was in the short-lived "Paper Moon" TV series, playing Ryan O'Neal's role (probably appropriate, considering the resemblance).

I just found this film for $1.95 at a local record store. I remember it playing on late-night TV in the '70s and freaking me out. Dobermans are beautiful dogs, but rather scary. We had some in our neiborhood growing up, and they'd sneak up on me when I was walking the dog. Very fast and quiet -- spooky.

Heya Warped; yeah growing up for us it was being afraid of German Shepards, Dobermans and Rotties - they were considered the vicious dogs unlike today where the pit bulls are getting a bad rap....all animals are beautiful!!!

Dobies are especially graceful and quiet..so watch your back! :)

Glad you found the film; enjoy it!

Hello, Bee:

It's strange that I never even heard of pit bulls until the '80s. I guess the Rottweilers, Dobermans and sheps were used for those illicit tasks back then. But yes, all animals are beautiful, and Dobermans are also very smart.

I just watched this film. It's decent entertainment overall, but the whole seems less than the sum of its parts. The dog was pretty much just a red herring, and I was slightly disappointed that he sort of disappeared from the plot early.

That scene where James Garner aggressively taps the Dobie on the nose and Murphy leaps into attack mode instantly triggered my memories of this film.

I was a pre-teen in the 1970s. I remember the cool dogs were collies, poodles, irish setters, saint bernards and yorkies, among others. Now those breeds are hardly ever seen. Retrievers (golden & labs) and pit bulls have taken over the top spots.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.
