(spoiler) Uncut ending

Tim gets badly burned and bitten by the snakes but he doesn't die. Also, why does Suzy stay there watching him? Did she really love Tim? Doesn't seem so because she pretty much put him in his place.

reply

yeah he does die.

you may not have the uncut version because as far as i can tell there are quite a few vhs releases of this film all with different scenes.

in mine tim crawls out of the house and stanley comes by him and tim says something (cant rememeber what but it was something about him and stanley perhaps "where did i go wrong" or something like that) and then stanley slithers away and tim dies.

i just really wish we get a fully uncut edition on dvd soon because i really love this movie.

reply

yeah, thanks for the response. i have same one you do - vid america. saw this in theaters, and tim crawls out and stanley slithers away, but i don't remember if he just laid their contemplating. didn't see eyes close. most of the vhs's are cut. The lantern falls to floor and we see burning cabin - the end. the version we have was what i saw back in the theater in 1972 on a double feature with 'night of the lepus.'

reply

yeah, i used to have a vcii release with other scenes in it but sold it when i got this one thinking it was fully uncut. someday we'll hopefully get a dvd.

reply

ok i just rewatched the movie and this is what tim says to stanley
"maybe when im in hell i'll find out what i am, stanley"

then stanley slithers away and we see a shot of the girl crying and then we get a high shot of the house burning and tim is laying there still, presumably dead

reply

I just watched the BCI special edition and kbtoys100 is correct on the ending.

Well, as a undercover man,
you sure got covered under....

Tim's body is badly burned, so I can understand why TV stations cut the final monologue between the dying Tim and his snake. Stanley apparently survives. Usually, they went from flames indoors to the exterior burning, with the Jack Vino song accompanying the end credits, quite abrupt.
