Solaris is better that odyssey 2001

It has better character development. In odyssey 2001 the only interesting character is the robot( bat the robot is perfect as a character). It has better story and is more emotional. Both of them have perfect visual bat i find Solaris to be better than odyssey 2001.Finally Solaris and odyssey 2001 are way mach better movies than The Shawshank Redemption. In fact cage 211 is better he Shawshank Redemption and is not on the same league of movies like Solaris or odyssey 2001 that are both all time classic.

I liked better 2001 only because i found Solaris a bit too complex to understand (well not that 2001's ending makes perfect sense) and especially because it raised the question as to what it means to be human without it involving a "love interest". Both are great films

Solaris is an excellent film but 2001 is still superior in my opinion.

I don't see why these are compared, both are abstract sci-fi movies, made at similar periods that is it.

I loved them both for different reasons. If I had to rank my favorite sci-fi films, it'd look something like:

1. Solyaris
2. Blade Runner
3. 2001
4. Empire Strikes Back

In my opinion, the only movie that can compare to 2001 is Mulholland Dr... Both are the most ambitious movies I've ever witnessed.

Don't get me started on Solaris's pacing...

I respectfully but strongly disagree sir, I love Solaris but I worship 2001, it has better ideas, better music, believes in less talking and more showing (images speak stronger and louder than beautiful words of Solaris ever could). No disrespect for this great movie though.
