Why is the movie called SLITHER?

Sounds like a horror film. Can't see a connection to the word SLITHER.

I've wondered about the title, too. I can't find anything on the Net that specifically explains the title. Maybe it's just a loose reference to the twisty, meandering plot of the story? Sort of "snake-like."

It is a great question! That is exactly what was expected in the theater in 1973 ~ we thought we were gonna see some kinda anaconda movie! Ever since then, [wot 40 years now] we kept thinking 'Slither' with those ominous black trucks and finding today that the name also refers to the other 2006 movie and mistakenly identified as the Sharon Stone "Sliver".
As to the claims of 'great movie' & why not too many posts here...well face it, it was as dumb as they come & most wouldn't bother to log in to say so!
Oh well, at least now we KNOW the importance of differentiating 'Sliver' from 'Slither'! Certainly messes up the tongue & brain. Thinkin is HARD! Learnin is HARDER!
Enjoy yer popcorn!
