Splendid prison escape

Sorry, I can't think of other movies with really suspenseful prison escapes like this one but I just wanted to chime in and agree that the one in Sitting Target is very well done. The film is actually quite good for its time (despite its misogyny which was par for the course back then). I wish the film could be shown in more crime/prison/British thriller genre retrospectives.

Very well done and suspenseful indeed. I guess you can't really compare the two but I do still think that the first season of Prison Break was great, and the way the actual escape at the end of the season goes down is very fun and suspenseful to watch too.

YES....'Runaway Train' from 1985.

There is a fantastic, near-silent prison break at the beginning of Nowhere to Go, which just came out on DVD.

and the twist is it starts with someone breaking INTO the prison to provide materials for the guy doing bird to break OUT.

Great Prison breaks in Brute Force and The Slams too.

Escape from Alcatraz 1979 is suspenseful and silent
