After being such a huge obnoxious ahole to everyone around him, he *Still* got what he wanted out of Joan. It was disappointing to she her give in to him, but I guess he was her only outlet for an affair.
Agree, but he was like a lot of people I've had the misfortune to be in the same room with. They always are able to fool some of the people some of the time about having some great secret about life but after a while it is revealed they are pathetic drunks, druggies, or just plain losers. Often they've helped ruin a few lives along the way though.
