Found It At Last - Worth the Wait

Just received the factory-sealed DVD with the two films, Sandcastles/Born to Be Sold, released by Quality Special Products (Made in Canada), copyright 2002. I bought it on ebay through the seller, marks_soccer. I paid $19.99 plus $3.00 shipping. He currently does have more copies for sale (and no, I do NOT know this guy or have any vested interest in his making a sale). In fact, this is the first item I have ever bought through ebay.

I just watched the film, and it was perfect (by perfect, I mean as perfect as it could possibly be as a made-for-TV movie reproduced for DVD). There were a couple of scenes that were ever-so-slightly grainy, but otherwise it was perfectly watchable, no problems with the sound quality, etc.

Most importantly, like others of my generation (especially those of us who were impressionable young teenage girls back in 1972/1973), this movie has stayed with me for the past 35 years and I have always, always wanted to see it again. Also like so many others, I fell in love with Jan-Michael Vincent because of this film (and Tribes, another made-for-TV, I believe) and was beginning to think I'd go to my grave never getting the chance to see it again.

I just turned 50 last month and the nostalgia bug is hitting me pretty hard. Having the chance to see this again really brought back that 13/14-year-old girl I used to be so long ago, when I first watched this on TV.

I know how happy I was to find a decent copy of this film, so I thought I'd let y'all know this DVD was worth the money. When my two daughters get a little bit older (they are 11 and 9), I will share this with them. Probably won't hold quite the same fascination for them as it did for me, but at least I'll be able to share a part of my youthful self with them for a few moments.

Too bad you did not see my post below. Oldies.com has the movie much cheaper. I bought the same version of the film from Oldies.

Movies Unlimited also has this rather reasonably, and it's just this movie ... not the other Born to be Sold feature.

BTW, the movie itself had a rather grainy look to it as part of the filmography, if I recall correctly. Maybe it was to give the illusion of sand! (Or just cheap cameras!)
