I too would like a copy of THE ORIGINAL VIDEOTAPE of this movie. I remember
seeing it for the first time on CBS television back in 1972 when I was High
School. The crisp, sharp video blew me away. It looked so real! Subsequent
showings were the transferred to film variety, and the Movies Unlimited tape
was absolutely terrible.

Did you find the movie and were you able to purchase it?
I too saw the movie as a young child and have never found it.

Well, I found it, in a way--A nice gentleman sold me an old one inch videotape
that had "good copy" written on the outside of it. I have not yet had the time
or the money to see about having it looked at for quality and to have it perhaps
transferred to DVD. I have it carefully locked away in a climate controlled
area. Perhaps I will be able to get to it later this year.

Also, a while back, I called California and had the honor of speaking with the
director of this film, Ted Post, who is in his 80's now, but still apparently
very sharp of mind. We discussed his career and this production in particular.
He was saddened as I was to hear of Jan Michael Vincent's deeply troubled life
in recent years.

Mr. Post also told me that he unfortunately did not have any copy of
"Sandcastles" in his possession, but suggested that I try the Television Museum
in New York and/or Los Angeles. I have not yet done this.

If I find out anything else, I will let you know.

This aired on FX Movie Channel (formerly Fox Movie Channel) last night uncut. I'm sure the quality would look the same as if it were transferred onto DVD since it was originally shot on VHS anyway. There's a good chance it might repeat as this channel usually shows the same movies during the same month.
