Gee, and you're gonna tell me that Charlton Heston isn't really an expert dog-sledder either??! Well, if we can't believe the movies, WHO can we believe?
Sheesh! Get a life. I'm so happy you're into dog sledding, but guess what? 99% of the world have never even been on a dog sled, and couldn't give a RATS ASS!! It was a good movie- pure and simple. Next time pay attention. You'll see that there was actually a story buried in there somewhere.
What's with you Alaskans?? First Sarah Palin, and now... YOU??! (Or is the other way around? WHO CARES!!)
Go back to shoveling snow!
Alaska is home to an estimated several million longpole and shore pine,as well as tens of millions of trees that look like pine. Much of the film was shot in Alaska in fact.
AS far as "Siberian Husky," that is not a breed, but a "type". Look it up on Wikipedia. Have you read the London novels? He frequently describes wolves around the camps as interbreed with mushing dogs.
This is easily the best adaption ever of a Jack London novel.
WHAT?
The film was made in NORWAY! READ the end credits.
