Influence on Wenders' 'Wings of Desire'?

Last night I saw Fellini's "Roma" for the first time. WOW is all I can say. But my point is, I couldn't help but think, after viewing it, that Wenders was under the influence of this film when embarking upon "Wings of Desire". A love letter to a beloved city, in all its beauty and depravity. The eternal and the corporeal. And specifically, the long traffic jam scene... there was even one image in particular, a man driving with a big black dog in the back, that seems duplicated in Wenders' traffic scene.
Anyone who has seen both films know what I'm talking about? Did Wenders ever mention it?

I don't know if he did. But when I saw Wings of desire, I immediately thought about Fellini.

Strange, I didn't at all. The idea never occurred to me prior to reading this thread, and I'll give it some further thought, but right now I fail to see any similarity.

I, on the other hand, found myself reminded of "Roma" when watching Woody Allen's "Manhattan".

Great minds think alike. Yes, Wenders, whether he admits it or not, must have been influenced by Roma.

Last film seen: Robert Bresson's Pickpocket - Brilliant!

I didn't think on "Wings of Desire" while watching "Roma" but now that you mention it indeed there is some common ground among both pictures.

I thought more of its possible influence on Kubrick's "Eyes Wide Shut" and the masked ball scene.

Adding to it, I thought this heavily inspired Woody's Radio Days. Even the sequence during the air raid is repeated...
