William Holden and Susan Hayward

Susan Hayward and William Holden were contract stars at Paramount and remained life long friends. Ms. Hayward replaced Mary Ure in this film and did a very fine job in a small cameo.Susan Hayward accepted the role out of life long friendship's with Producer Martin Rackin and Director Daniel Mann who directed Ms. Hayward in I'll Cry Tomorrow and Ada, both at MGM, and Mr. Holden. I liked the age appropriate casting, but Susan looked decade younger than her real age and Holden a decade older than his real age due to his drinking, etc. This was Susan Hayward's last theatrical film before she died at an early age.

Ms. Hayward did PR for this film and the film would have benefited with more of Ms. Hayward as Susie made her fame by playing tough ladies.
