Can anyone

Hi. Can anyone please tell me why James Coburn's voice was dubbed in this film. It certainly was not his voice in the version I watched. All the others, including Telly Savalas, seemed to have their own voices but not Coburn. Perhaps it was something to do with the contract but it seems strange that his was the only voice which was dubbed. I don't know who he was dubbed by but I wasn't particularly impressed by it. It was very strange seeing him talk but hearing someone else's voice. It probably affected my views of the film. Overall I quite enjoyed it. Not one of my favourites though. The version I saw also appeared to be poorly edited.

I'm watching it on The Westerns Channel right now and the voice I hear is definately James Coburn. That isn't to say that there isn't more than one copy out there, but this one is definately him.

Ok. Thank you. I will watch it when it is next on and listen again.

Here's the schedule for when A Reason To Live, A Reason To Die comes on Encore Westerns again. By the way, I just saw the ending on the Westerns channel today, & it's Coburn's voice, no question, but I've seen several spaghetti westerns where the lead actor's voice is dubbed, particularly "God's Gun" from 1976, starring Lee Van Cleef.

Richard Boone's voice was dubbed, & that always irritates me beyond words, because it was one of his last roles, he wasn't used much, he's a great actor better than the production, & his voice is immediately recognizable & highly distinstive, but that's getting off topic.

Coburn's voice is definitely dubbed by another voice actor on the Wild East disc.

I hope you know you realise voices are dubbed all the time becuz these films are shown in so many foreign markets. I have heard Boris Karloff dubbed as an Italian speaking broken English, Christopher Lee dubbed by a terrible wheezy voiced guy and on and on. Depending on the film it can be entertaining if the flick is garbage to begin with.

A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep.

It's on UK channel ITV4 at the moment. The pic and sound is mostly clear, though some of the dialogue is out-of-sync. There are some swearing edits in this version. I noticed something like, "If you keep pointing that gun at me, I'll shove it up your 'throat'!" UP your throat? His mouth was saying a lower part of the anatomy for sure. Another guy said something similar to, "He'll shoot your 'ears' off while it's there!" The edits sort of go with eachother, but the original ass/balls version would've had more impact :D

Yes I'm watching this now on ITV4 same pan and scan print, probably edited for violence too, especially as it's on day time, oh Telly Savalas and James Coburn are not dubbed, but most if not all of the rest of the European cast certainly are. Really needs to be viewed in 2.35:1
