...was the ending. After he goes on his rampage, George C Scott goes down on the ground twitching, ala Gene Hackman in Bonnie in Clyde. Last time I saw this thing was on network tv in the 70's. I wouldnt mind checking it out again.

What I recall from this movie was George C. Scott's use of the (Charter Arms- manufactured at the time) AR-7 .22 caliber breakdown survival rifle -- the barrel and receiver came apart, and, along with the gun's magazine, could be stored in the stock.
shareI remember seeing this film in the theater as a kid and I just saw it recently for the first time since then.
Two things I remembered from when I first saw it .
*SPOILERS*
1) Assembling the rifle, I thought that was pretty cool.
2) Unfortunately I also remembered the cat - not very cool.
Otherwise, I didn't remember much except vaguely how it ended.
